Using a 1 1/2 gallon ice cream maker, divide recipe as necessary for smaller. This is why I noted that the recipe makes 1 1/2 gallons even though it comes in shy of that.
Original recipe calls for 5 to 6 eggs. I listed the higher amount to make sure enough were available while making the recipe.
1. Beat eggs well
2. Mix sugar, eggs, salt, vanilla, half and half, and heavy whipping cream together
3. Pour mix into ice cream maker and fill 2/3 full with milk on top
4. Run maker as instructed by the manual, probably involves ice and rock salt
5. When machine sounds like it is working hard or stops, check the consistency of the ice cream and freeze in freezer if insufficiently stiff
